If you’re trying to decide between the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve at Disney World, here’s the quick answer after staying at all three with my kids.

The Swan Reserve is my personal favorite.

It’s the newest hotel in the complex, the quietest overall, and the rooms feel noticeably more modern. After a long day chasing toddlers around EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, that calm atmosphere made a huge difference for us.

That said, each of the three hotels has its own strengths.

The Dolphin has the most dining options and the liveliest atmosphere. The Swan has the easiest walk to Hollywood Studios and a quieter vibe than the Dolphin. And the Swan Reserve offers the most peaceful stay of the three.

If I were booking again with young kids, this is the one I would choose.

The Swan Reserve is the newest of the three hotels, and you can feel the difference the moment you walk in. It’s quieter, the rooms feel more modern, and the overall atmosphere feels calmer than the other two.

Yes, it’s the farthest walk to the parks. But for our family, the peaceful environment after busy park days made that tradeoff completely worth it.

Our room had two queen beds, huge floor-to-ceiling windows, and a spacious bathroom that was big enough to fit a crib for nap time.

One night we laid a blanket on the floor and had a pizza party while watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks through the window. The kids thought it was the greatest thing ever, and I loved having a quiet place to unwind after a long park day.

Best for Dining Options: Dolphin

The Dolphin is the biggest and busiest hotel of the three.

If food options matter most to you, this is the clear winner.

The Dolphin has far more restaurants and snack options than the other two hotels combined. When you’re traveling with kids, especially picky eaters, that convenience can be a huge advantage.

Our room at the Dolphin also had something the other hotels didn’t: a traditional bathtub, which made bath time with toddlers much easier.

I didn’t start my blog until after this trip, so I don’t have a full room tour. But I did take a quick video of my kids playing in the room, which gives a pretty good sense of the space and layout.

One night we realized our room had a view of the EPCOT fireworks. We pulled the kids out of bed when the show started and watched the whole thing through the window together. Seeing their sleepy faces light up when the fireworks started was pure Disney magic.

Best for Walkability: Swan

The Swan sits right between the Dolphin and the Swan Reserve, both physically and in terms of the overall experience.

It’s quieter than the Dolphin but closer to the parks than the Swan Reserve.

If walking to Hollywood Studios matters most to you, the Swan is the easiest of the three.

Our room here had a balcony, which ended up being surprisingly helpful when traveling with kids. It gave us extra space for toddler snacks, drying swimsuits, and just stepping outside for a breather between park days.

My son loved standing on the balcony watching the boats go by along the waterway below. Those little quiet moments in between the chaos of the parks are sometimes the best parts of a Disney trip.

One thing many people don’t realize is that the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve all offer Disney Deluxe Resort benefits, even though they’re usually much cheaper than Disney-owned Deluxe hotels.

That means you still get perks like:
