Walt Disney World Swan Hotel With Kids: Is It Worth It?

On one of our Disney World trips, when my kids were 2 and 3, we stayed at the Walt Disney World Swan, and it ended up being a really easy place to manage day to day.
If you’re staying at Disney with young kids, the details matter more than you expect. Things like how far you have to walk, whether you need to fold a stroller, and how easy it is to get everyone out the door in the morning can make or break the trip.
The Swan worked well for us in a few specific ways: it’s walkable to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, it’s the closest of the three Swan and Dolphin hotels to the Hollywood Studios walking path, and our room had a balcony, which ended up being surprisingly useful with kids.
It’s not the newest hotel in the complex, and there were a few things that weren’t as smooth as I expected, but overall it ended up being a really solid option if you’re trying to balance convenience, cost, and a Disney stay that feels manageable with kids.

Is the Walt Disney World Swan Worth It With Kids?
Yes, especially if you’re looking for a quieter, more manageable hotel that still gives you easy access to the parks.
The Walt Disney World Swan ended up being one of the easier Disney-area hotels I’ve tried with young kids. The smaller lobby, calmer atmosphere, and straightforward layout made a big difference compared to some of the larger, busier resorts.
It’s a great fit if:
- You want to walk to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios
- Hollywood Studios is a priority for your trip, since this is the closest of the three hotels to that walking path
- You prefer a quieter, less overwhelming environment at the end of the day
- A balcony would be useful for things like meals, drying swimsuits, or just having a little extra space
It might not be the best fit if:
- You want a newer or more modern hotel feel
- You need a bathtub for young kids
- Having quick, simple food options right inside your hotel is important
For us, the location and calmer feel made it a really solid option, even with a few small frustrations. It’s not as polished as the Swan Reserve, but it felt easy to manage, which ended up mattering more than anything.
Location: EPCOT Resort Area
The Walt Disney World Swan is part of the Swan and Dolphin complex and sits just across from the Dolphin. It is slightly closer to the walking path that leads straight to Hollywood Studios. That ended up being one of the biggest advantages for us.
Being able to leave our room and head straight onto the path without needing to fold the stroller or wait for transportation made a huge difference, especially at the end of the day when everyone was tired. It’s one of those things that doesn’t sound like a big deal until you’re actually doing it with kids. (If you’re wondering why, I break down exactly how Disney transportation works with a stroller here.)
You can also walk to EPCOT from here, and there’s a FriendShip Boat launch right outside the lobby if you’d rather take the boat instead. We had both options, but I found myself relying on the walking path most of the time because it was faster and more predictable.
If you’re using a stroller at Disney, this location is one of the biggest advantages of staying here. Not having to deal with transportation for two parks makes the whole day feel simpler.

The Room: Renovated, Functional, and Surprisingly Helpful With Kids

We booked a Deluxe Room with a balcony, and the room itself had been recently renovated, which made a big difference. You can still tell that the Swan is an older property overall, but the room felt clean and updated, which is what mattered most to me with two young kids.
The layout worked well for day-to-day life in the room. There was enough space to move around without everything feeling cramped, which made a difference during slower parts of the day when we were in and out for naps and breaks.

The balcony ended up being one of the most useful features of the room. I had the kids eat meals out there so I didn’t have to worry about crumbs or spills on the beds, and I used it to dry out swimsuits since the bathroom didn’t have a clothesline. It was one of those small things that made the whole stay feel easier.

The bathroom was a bit more of a mixed experience. It only had a walk-in shower, which can be tricky if your kids aren’t comfortable with showers yet. The handheld showerhead helped, since I could rinse them off without fully spraying them down, but it still wasn’t ideal.
The bigger issue for me was how humid the bathroom stayed. There either wasn’t a fan or it wasn’t strong enough to make a difference, and after showers the whole space stayed steamy for a long time. It made getting everyone dressed and out the door a little more frustrating than it needed to be.
From a practical standpoint, though, the room worked. It wasn’t the most modern or polished space we’ve stayed in, but it was clean, functional, and easy to manage, which matters a lot during a Disney trip with young kids.
Curious what the full setup looks like? I filmed a quick room tour so you can see exactly what to expect before booking.

What It Actually Feels Like to Stay at the Swan
The Swan has a noticeably calmer and quieter feel compared to the Dolphin, which can be a big plus when you’re traveling with young kids and just need things to feel a little more manageable.
Compared to the Swan Reserve, it’s a little less polished and doesn’t feel quite as new, but it also felt simpler and easier to navigate day to day. The Swan Reserve has more of a modern, boutique feel, while the Swan feels more straightforward and relaxed.
The lobby is smaller and more low-key, and overall the hotel felt easier to move through. It’s not as updated or modern-feeling as the Swan Reserve, but in a way that made it feel less overwhelming rather than outdated.
For me, this ended up being one of the easier hotels to manage with two young kids. I wasn’t dealing with big crowds in common areas or trying to figure out complicated layouts, which made a difference throughout the stay.
Transportation: What You Actually Need to Know
Transportation at the Swan is very similar to the other hotels in the Swan and Dolphin complex, but there are a few details that stood out in practice.
The biggest advantage is the ability to walk to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. The Swan is actually the closest of the three hotels to the Hollywood Studios walking path, which made it really easy to go back and forth without needing to rely on buses.
Walking from the Swan to EPCOT typically takes about 10 minutes at an adult pace, and a little longer with little legs or a stroller. Hollywood Studios is a little bit longer at about 15 minutes.
There’s also a FriendShip Boat launch right outside the hotel, which runs to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and Disney’s Beach Club Resort. It’s a nice option, especially if your kids enjoy the ride, but I found walking to be faster and more predictable most of the time.
For parks like Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, you’ll use the Swan and Dolphin bus system, which is separate from Disney’s buses. It works fine, but it’s not quite as seamless. For Magic Kingdom in particular, you’ll be dropped off at the Transportation and Ticket Center, which means taking either the ferry or monorail to get to the park from there.
It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to be aware of ahead of time, especially if Magic Kingdom is a big part of your trip.
For me, the ability to walk to two parks easily still outweighed that extra step.
Amenities and Dining (What You’ll Actually Use)

Dining at the Walt Disney World Swan was probably the one area that felt a little less straightforward than I expected.
Room service is available, but it has to be ordered through the Swan and Dolphin app, not the Marriott or Disney app. I had a hard time figuring that out at first, and when I tried to download the correct app, it kept glitching and wouldn’t install properly. I ended up giving up on room service entirely.
I did place a mobile order for breakfast, but the only pickup location available was across the courtyard at the Dolphin. It wasn’t a huge issue, but it was definitely something I wish I had known ahead of time, especially on a busy morning with toddlers.
That said, there are plenty of dining options within a short walk. Between the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve, you won’t run out of places to eat, and having everything so close together makes it easy to adjust plans as needed.
All three hotels also share access to the full pool complex, Camp Dolphin kids’ club, watercraft rentals, outdoor movies, and more.
One thing that worked especially well for us was the shaded kiddie pool in the main pool complex. My kids can be a little hesitant with large pools, and this one felt perfect. It had zero entry, stayed cooler thanks to the shade, and ended up being one of our favorite places to take a break during the day.

Staying at the Swan With Kids: Pros and Cons
What I Loved:
- The clean, renovated room made everything feel fresh, which goes a long way with young kids
- The balcony was unexpectedly helpful for meals and drying swimsuits
- Being able to walk to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, especially being closest to the Hollywood Studios path, made the days feel much easier
- The shaded kiddie pool in the main pool complex was perfect for toddlers, with zero entry and a calmer feel
- The smaller, quieter lobby made the hotel feel calm and easy to manage
- The hotel felt safe and straightforward to navigate with young kids
What I Didn’t Love:
- No bathtub made bathing toddlers a little more challenging
- The bathroom stayed humid and didn’t have a good place to dry swimsuits
- Food ordering felt more confusing than it should have been. Room service requires a separate app, which I couldn’t get to work, and breakfast pickup was across at the Dolphin
Disney Perks: What You Still Get
Even though the Swan isn’t a Disney-owned resort, it’s part of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin complex, which means you still get many of the same perks as a Disney Deluxe Resort stay.
That includes:
- Early Theme Park Entry
- Extended Evening Hours
- Complimentary transportation, including boats and buses
- Free theme park parking
- Access to Disney golf course tee times
Those perks make a bigger difference than you might expect, especially when you’re trying to get into the parks early or stay a little later without feeling rushed.
Is the Walt Disney World Swan Worth It With Kids?
