Washington Marriott Georgetown With Kids: Honest Review
I stayed at the Washington Marriott Georgetown on a recent trip to Washington, DC with my kids, and it ended up being one of the easiest hotel stays we’ve had in a big city.
If you’re visiting DC with kids, the hotel setup matters more than you might expect. Location, parking, food access, room layout, and how safe the area feels can make a big difference in how manageable the trip feels day to day.
We were in town meeting my husband during a long layover, but most of our time at the hotel was just me with the kids. So I was paying close attention to the details that make a city hotel easier with kids: safety, parking, food access, stroller logistics, and how manageable everything felt day to day.
The location made getting around easy, the setup felt simple and safe, and the staff were incredibly kind to my kids. It’s not a hotel built specifically for families, but for this kind of Washington, DC trip, it worked really well.
Is the Washington Marriott Georgetown a Good Fit With Kids?
Yes, especially if you’re looking for a simple, safe, well-located base for exploring Washington, DC with kids.
It’s a great fit if:

- You want a hotel that feels safe and easy to manage with kids
- You want a straightforward, easy hotel without a lot of moving parts
- You don’t need resort-style amenities like pools or kids clubs

Location: Central, Walkable, and Easy to Manage
The Washington Marriott Georgetown is located in DC’s West End, right between Georgetown and downtown. It’s not technically in Georgetown, but it’s close enough to get there easily.
It’s also right near George Washington University and just off Pennsylvania Avenue, which makes it a really convenient base for getting around the city.
For us, the location worked really well. It’s a little over a mile to both the White House and the Lincoln Memorial in opposite directions, which meant we could get to a lot of what we wanted to see without needing transportation.
That said, Washington, DC is a big city, and where you stay really depends on what you want to do. We were only there for a short trip and picked our activities based on what was nearby, so everything felt very manageable. If your plans are more spread out, you might find yourself relying on public transportation more.
What I will say is that the area felt very safe. I had no hesitation walking around alone with my kids during the day, which made a huge difference for me on this trip.
The Room: Simple, Spacious, With One Big Drawback
We stayed in a Premier Guest Room with two double beds.
The setup itself worked really well with kids. There was a partial divider and a separate seating area with a couch and second TV, which gave us a little extra space to spread out. My kids loved having that area to eat, play, and wind down at the end of the day, which always makes a big difference when it comes to sleeping in a hotel room with kids.
It wasn’t anything fancy in terms of amenities. Just the basics like a mini fridge and coffee maker. But for this kind of trip, that was really all we needed.
The biggest downside for me was how dark the room felt. There was only one small window tucked off to the side in the living area, so it never really got much natural light. It made the space feel a little more closed in than I would have liked.
The bathroom was also on the smaller side and only had a shower, no bathtub. That’s something to keep in mind if you’re traveling with younger kids who do better with baths.
Overall, the room was functional and gave us the space we needed, but it’s not one of those rooms that feels bright, open, or particularly memorable.

What It Actually Feels Like to Stay at Washington Marriott Georgetown

This is one of those hotels that just feels easy.
The entire stay felt very straightforward and low-stress, which makes a big difference when traveling with kids.
The hotel itself is modern and clean, with a polished, city-hotel feel. The lobby is beautiful without being overwhelming, and everything felt well laid out and easy to navigate.
Check-in was quick and smooth, and the staff were genuinely kind and accommodating. They gave my kids lollipops when we arrived and were very relaxed about letting all three of us into the M Club, even though my access technically only covered two people.
That kind of flexibility made a big difference.
Getting around the hotel was also simple. The elevators were quick, never crowded, and easy to manage with our stroller, which isn’t always the case in city hotels.
The M Club ended up being a huge part of what made this stay easier. I had access through my Marriott Bonvoy status, but you can also book rooms that include it.
It’s basically an executive lounge with food and drinks included, so we had constant access to things like water, soda, coffee, fruit, and snacks throughout the day. In the morning, they put out a full breakfast, and in the evenings there are light appetizers and drinks.
Having that kind of built-in access meant I wasn’t constantly scrambling to find something for the kids. And being able to just walk in and grab breakfast without leaving the hotel took a lot of pressure off the day.
It’s not a hotel with built-in entertainment for kids. There’s no pool or activities. But the way everything is set up made it really manageable, which, for me, matters more.
Transportation: Easy from the Moment You Arrive
Since we drove in from Western New York, I used the hotel’s parking garage, and honestly, it was one of the easiest parking experiences I’ve had in a city.
The garage is directly connected to the hotel and only accessible with a room key or paid ticket, which made it feel very secure. As someone arriving alone with kids, a stroller, and luggage, that mattered a lot.
The space itself was clean, well-lit, temperature controlled, and had large parking spots, which made getting everything in and out of the car much easier than what I usually deal with in parking garages.
There’s also an elevator in the garage that takes you straight up to the lobby and guest floors, so you’re not navigating stairs or long walks with everything.
Once we were there, we mostly walked. The location made it easy to get to a lot of what we wanted to see, even with a stroller, and the Foggy Bottom Metro stop was only about a five-minute walk when we needed it.
Dining: Limited On-Site, But Easy Options
Dining at the hotel is pretty simple. There’s one main restaurant, The Visiteur, along with a lounge and the M Club if you have access.
We didn’t eat at the main restaurant, but we did order in-room dining our first night after a long day of driving and visiting the zoo. The kids were done, and staying in just made more sense.
The food itself was excellent, and pricing was comparable to what we would have paid using a delivery service. The only thing that caught me off guard was that it came packaged like takeout in a paper bag rather than on plates.
Not a big deal, just not what I was expecting for room service at that price point.
The M Club was where we got the most use out of dining. The breakfast wasn’t anything special, but it was easy, and with kids, that matters more than anything. During the day, having access to snacks, drinks, and quick grab options made everything feel more manageable.
And if you want more variety, there are plenty of restaurants nearby or available for delivery, so you’re not limited to what’s in the hotel.

Is Washington Marriott Georgetown Worth It With Kids?
Yes, especially if you’re looking for a simple, well-located hotel that makes getting around Washington, DC easy.
This isn’t a resort-style stay, and it’s not designed specifically for kids. But it does a really good job at the things that matter most on a city trip with children: location, safety, easy parking, simple food options, and a room setup with enough space to reset at the end of the day.
For me, this was one of those stays where everything just worked. And when you’re traveling with kids, especially if you’re managing a lot on your own, that’s exactly what you want. The location made a big difference, the setup was easy to manage, and the staff genuinely went out of their way to make our stay smoother.
The biggest drawbacks are the darker rooms and the lack of kid-focused amenities, but for a city trip where you’re out exploring most of the time, those things didn’t feel like dealbreakers.
For me, this was one of those stays where everything just worked. And when you’re traveling alone with kids, that’s exactly what you want.
