Double Stroller on Royal Caribbean: My Experience on Freedom of the Seas
Can You Bring a Side-by-Side Double Stroller on Royal Caribbean?
If you’ve ever considered bringing a double stroller onto a cruise ship, you’ve probably heard all the warnings. People say the hallways are too narrow, you won’t be able to pass by housekeeping carts, and you’ll struggle with elevators.
So, I had to see for myself.
I brought my Zoe Twin+ (29” wide) on Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas, a ship in their Freedom Class fleet. Here’s my full review based on my personal experience.
Note: This was my experience on this specific ship with this specific stroller. Different cruise lines, ships, or strollers may yield different results!

Embarkation & Disembarkation: Boarding With a Double Stroller on Royal Caribbean
We sailed out of Miami, Florida, and getting on and off the ship there with a double stroller was surprisingly easy!
At Miami’s cruise terminal, the embarkation area is on the second floor, but elevators were well-marked and quick to use. I had to take my kids out for security, but a crew member helped push the stroller through behind me.
The gangway to board the ship was huge, making it easy to navigate with a stroller. There was plenty of space for people to pass by us, and we rolled right onto the ship without any trouble.
Disembarking in Nassau:
- The area where they scan SeaPasses was a little tight, but crew members moved temporary rope stands to create more space.
- The gangway was just wide enough for our stroller, but we had to wait for others to pass before heading up.
Final Verdict: Getting on and off the ship with the double stroller was easy and hassle-free!
Cabin Accessibility: Can a Double Stroller Fit in a Room on Royal Caribbean?
We stayed in a Spacious Ocean View Balcony Stateroom, and while there was plenty of space inside, the stroller did not fit through the doorway. I had to fold it before entering and set it up again in the hallway when leaving.
Inside the room, the stroller fit perfectly propped against the balcony door on the side that didn’t open, behind the curtain. It also could have easily slid under the bed or fit in the empty closet.

Final Verdict: Expect to fold your stroller before entering your cabin, but once inside, storage is easy.
Navigating a Royal Caribbean Ship With a Double Stroller: Hallways, Elevators & Public Spaces
Cabin Hallways: Spacious With Occasional Tight Spots
One of my biggest concerns was whether hallways would be too tight for a side-by-side double stroller.
- Most of the time, the hallways were wide enough to pass luggage, housekeeping carts, and other guests without issue.
- There were a few narrow spots, but they were brief. If I saw people coming, I simply pulled over and let them pass before entering the tight space.
- Only once did I run into a housekeeping cart in a narrow area, but I was able to push it a few inches into the doorway of the stateroom being cleaned to pass without issue.
Public Spaces & Elevators: No Issues!
Once outside the cabin hallways, the rest of the ship was extremely stroller-friendly.
- The stroller fit easily into all elevators, even during busy times.
- Other guests were accommodating and patient, making the experience stress-free.
Final Verdict: Navigating the ship was easy, aside from a few brief hallway congestion spots.
Dining With a Double Stroller on Royal Caribbean
Dining areas were surprisingly easy to navigate with my stroller.
- At the cafes (Sorrento’s and Starbucks), I was able to take the stroller through the line and park it right at a table with us.
- At Windjammer Cafe, I could push the stroller through the buffet line and pull it right up to a table without issue.
- In the main dining room, strollers weren’t allowed at the table, but I was able to park it right outside the restaurant while we ate.
Final Verdict: Dining with a double stroller on Royal Caribbean was easy, thanks to the ship’s spacious layouts and helpful crew members.
Final Thoughts: Should You Bring a Double Stroller on Royal Caribbean?
For me, the answer is YES!
Even though I had to fold it to enter my stateroom and pull over occasionally in hallways, the benefits far outweighed the minor inconveniences.
- It made getting around the ship much easier, especially as a solo parent with a baby and a toddler.
- Public areas, elevators, and dining spaces were stroller-friendly.
- Boarding and disembarking were smooth, even in Nassau.
If you’re debating whether to bring a double stroller on Freedom of the Seas, I highly recommend it!
